Sustainable Switzerland: New training program for sustainability
Sustainable Switzerland, the sustainability initiative of the NZZ publishing house, is launching a continuing education program with a focus on SMEs and sustainability officers. The Sustainable Switzerland Academy will start on February 23, 2024, with a practical program on the topic of sustainable development.
The path to a sustainable future requires special knowledge and practical know-how. The Sustainable Switzerland Academy offers both. The newly created continuing education program will start on February 23, 2024, with freely accessible webinars, live sessions, content formats, and licensed, modular masterclasses. The latter were developed in cooperation with Swiss Climate, a consulting firm specializing in CO2 management, sustainability, and energy, and XU sustainable, a provider of online training for sustainability skills. The masterclasses are tailored to the questions and needs of companies, especially SMEs, and the tasks of prospective sustainability officers. The spectrum of content ranges from CO2 management to the development of a sustainability strategy.
The Academy program caters to different levels and is suitable for both beginners and experts. In the webinars, users will receive a lot of useful information on specific sustainability issues, such as how to deal with regulatory requirements or the use of software tools and artificial intelligence. The content is not only taught in theory but also based on concrete case studies. Live sessions and expert talks complement the offer and provide the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience. In cooperation with selected university partners, certified CAS and MAS courses are also to be added in the future.
“Essentially, the aim is to make Swiss SMEs fit for the challenges of today and tomorrow by acquiring and expanding sustainability skills,” explains Felix Graf, CEO of NZZ. According to a study by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) last year, around 80 percent of companies in Switzerland have set themselves sustainability goals, but more than 50 percent of them currently lack the skills to implement them successfully.
Sustainable Switzerland is an initiative of the NZZ company. It was founded two years ago and has since developed into Switzerland’s leading sustainability platform with an extensive network.
Felix Graf: “Together with our partners from business and science, with Sustainable Switzerland we are making an important contribution to the sustainable development of Switzerland.”
