Transformation turbo: EY and XU sustainable develop innovative training on topics such as ESG and artificial intelligence

  • “EY Schools”: imparting industry and function-specific know-how for future skills
  •  Topics of the first schools: sustainability, artificial intelligence, transformation in the automotive industry, sustainable sports, sustainability in the insurance and finance industry
  • Online training is offered as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) – using the XU sustainable learning experience platform and services

Stuttgart/Berlin, January 2024. The auditing and consulting company EY and the online learning innovator XU sustainable are jointly developing an extensive training offering to support companies in giving their employees the necessary skills for megatrends such as ESG or artificial intelligence (AI ). The “EY Schools” combine XU sustainable’s many years of experience in the area of innovative and sustainable online learning with EY’s industry and topic-specific know-how. The online training is offered as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Customers can therefore use the IT infrastructure and software provided by EY and XU sustainable for the further training of their employees.

A total of five schools are initially planned, which will be rolled out in the coming weeks and months. It starts with the EY School on the topic of AI, which explains the basics of the new technology in practice-oriented training and conveys its opportunities and strategic added value in the corporate context. Further schools on the topic of sustainability, sustainable transformation in the automotive sector, the sports industry as well as the insurance and finance sectors will follow.

“The EY Schools are something completely new and are unique on the market so far. The urgency of the climate crisis, the rapid development of technologies and the increasing dynamics of change in global markets are forcing companies to massively accelerate their own transformation. And that’s exactly where the EY Schools come in: They reflect our knowledge and experience from daily consulting and are therefore more up-to-date, more practical and more extensive than all previous academic offerings. In this way, we support companies in making their employees fit for the future quickly and sustainably,” says Constantin M. Gall, Managing Partner at EY.

Practical experience and industry know-how form the basis of the EY Schools

What’s special: The training offer is based on the extensive practical experience of EY and XU sustainable and is consistently geared to the current needs of companies that are facing a transformation or are already in the middle of the process. Since the specific need for transformation varies in different industries, all of the EY schools are designed according to the specific requirements of certain industries. For example, there will be digital sustainability training specifically designed for employees in the automotive industry to qualify them for the sustainable transformation of their company.

The content of the schools is aimed at employees at all levels of the company and emphasize how each and every individual can contribute to the transformation. All schools are divided into different master classes, the content of which builds on one another or can be combined in modular form depending on the learning goal. The knowledge imparted, for example in the area of sustainability, ranges from the basics of reporting obligations to the development and implementation of environmental and climate protection goals to specifics such as emissions accounting. Tools are also offered for the independent development of measures and for support in their implementation.

Sophisticated didactic classes with multimedia learning experience

In addition to its learning experience platform, XU sustainable provides the EY Schools with its experience in didactics, creation of learning content and activation of learners. This includes programs and certificates for all target groups and levels in the company. In addition to interactive formats that allow flexible learning times, data-driven and KPI-based activation measures are used. This approach leads to a high level of learner participation by relying on personal involvement and incentive instead of coercion.

These principles not only measurably increase learning success, but also have a noticeable impact on the transformation climate within companies. “Our experience shows that when not only managers but employees feel included and taken along, great potential is released,” says Dr. Christopher Jahns, co-founder and co-CEO of XU sustainable. “Who has already learned sustainability, climate protection, ESG, but also technologies such as generative AI or how to deal with polycrises? Hardly anyone. The EY Schools create the foundation for a successful, sustainable future for companies.”

The EY Schools will initially be offered in the DACH region, then in France, Spain and the Benelux countries. The content is adapted to regional cultural, ecological and legal characteristics and created in different languages as required. The possibility of individual branding of the learning experience platform ensures integration into the company’s own digital ecosystem and uniform employer branding.
